It's not counseling. It's not therapy. It's not "life coaching."
I have found that "mental performance coaching" is the best way to say it.
My early work in traditional therapy, with difficult populations, taught me a lot about the things people do to keep themselves stuck and how to build a better way. This included addiction treatment, a family crisis program, and juvenile justice. Later, my professional evolution into a mental performance coach for Olympians, MVPs, and C-Suite Executives taught me just as much about functioning at a high level.
I help anyone who wants to be more dialed in on some facet of their lives, career, and relationships.
I will meet you wherever you are on your journey, fine-tune what you already do well, and build systems based on your strengths and dispositions to help you perform at your best.
I help facilitate change.
I help you to think differently, react differently, and stop repeating the same cycles.
I help you find relief.
I teach you proven methods to reduce stress, overwhelm, anxiety, and stagnation.
I help you get to know yourself.
I help you make sense of who you are and who you want to be through understanding your emotions and your relational and behavioral patterns.
I help you gain a sense of direction and hope so you can move through life with more clarity, confidence, and purpose.
The "3Ps" represent the structure underneath how I help my clients. We collaborate to build mental, emotional, and practical processes (1st P) that enable you to perform (2nd P) consistently at the upper edge of your ability. I have seen repeatedly that when people are firing on all cylinders in their lives, their purpose (3rd P) starts to reveal itself. I will help you identify the markers and dial into the pull.
“You may get to the very top of the ladder and then find it has not been leaning against the right wall.”
Most people know how to work, grind, adapt, sacrifice, and endure, but it often feels like momentum without movement. Whether it's professionally, relationally, or personally:
The problem isn’t effort.
The problem isn’t ambition.
The problem is often effort in the wrong direction.
This is where I come in. I help you establish direction and build a system that fuels effort in the right direction.
I see "process" as a well-designed, well-maintained set of mental, emotional, and behavioral mechanisms that translate your intentions into repeatable action under real-world pressure.
All meaningful research on performance, learning, and behavior change points to the same conclusion: sustained change comes from focusing on process, not outcomes. When people identify and commit to the right daily processes, results take care of themselves.
Process makes you a better performer. Better parent. Better friend. Better whatever!
The processes you build are the bridge between knowing who you want to be and showing up that way when it counts. They help regulate the nervous system, focus attention, accurately interpret what’s happening, and respond in alignment with what matters most, even when things are uncomfortable, uncertain, or demanding.
First, I help you identify your strengths and tune-up what's already working. Then, we work collaboratively to build a bulletproof mindset and practical processes that pull you toward your goals and ultimately your purpose. Process drives performance.
Consistent high-performance isn't just a gift from the gods or reserved for those rare "naturals." It's the result of a trained mind and well built procesess that support us at our best and insulate us from our worst.
High-performance isn't just for athletes and executives. Everyone can learn how to step up in the moments that matter and quiet the voice in their head that wants to talk them out of it. Whether you're a world champion or just want to be a world changer, you can develop focus, confidence, grit, and mental toughness.
I help athletes, professionals, parents, and anyone else who wants to be the tip of the spear in their world perform at the upper levels of their ability.
Milton H. Erickson was a pioneer of psychotherapy who showed that change happens most effectively when you work with how people naturally function. As the story goes, he was outside playing with friends when a horse wandered up to them.
None of the boys knew to whom he belonged.
.
Erickson got on the horse, which naturally turned down the road, then another, and eventually walked into a neighboring farm and stopped.
The farmer came out and said, "That's my horse, how did you know where he belonged?"
Erikson replied, “I didn’t know, the horse knew.”
I believe, just like Erikson's horse, that we also have an internal "know" driven by our purpose.
The idea of finding one's "purpose" can feel overwhelming, as if it has to arrive all at once or define a person's entire life. In reality, purpose is much simpler and more practical. It reveals itself through the patterns of what you are naturally drawn to, what you do well, and where your energy consistently goes.
On my own journey, I have learned that purpose is:
My observation is that, whatever our purpose, part of it is to teach what our experience has taught us to those we influence. I think this happens when we are present, right where we are, with those around us.
For most people, purpose isn’t a job title or a single role. It's something that reveals itself over time, through the things that energize you, where your strengths naturally show up, and where you’re drawn to contribute as your life unfolds.
A search for meaning and purpose is a recurring theme in the clients I work with. My job is to help connect you to the gravitational pull of your purpose. This is partially facilitated by dialing into your processes and performing at your best wherever you are.
